Magnum motors,what if???
Promised myself, I would not touch any of the race cars until, our new shop was built. We moved in last sunday, time to go to work, not like we havent work hard getting the shop built....
Started stripping down the hobby engine, not looking good, not sure what happen yet, decided to pull the engine out to complete tear down.... Really considering building a early 80's magnum 5.9L, roller cam and all, what are pros and cons?? Will early cylinder heads interchange, what problems can i expect, need to survive between 64 and 68 every week, occasionally some low 7's. Sanborn and others what do y'all think???? Looking fo y'all input!! Avenger |

Engine not as seriously hurt as i thought...fuel starvation cause pre-ignition,damaged one piston. We change gear ratio several weeks prior to engine failure, increased rpm 500/600,also we have to run cast intake, in aftermath upon looking at intake, poor fuel velocity to 1 and 4,which are the cylinder we damaged.
We should have re-checked plugs after changes were made, my fault failed to do that....caused me some money and a tear dow. Inspected bearings, might as well have inspected new bearings, no wear of any sort...our oil modification are obviously working!! avenger |
