rebuilding 318
Greetings all,
I am in the process of rebuilding the motor in my truck 85 W-150 I am having to replace the block with an older one I got a set of heads with the new block and the heads have 360 stamped on them. I am trying to find out of this is indeed a 360 head or not. I have bored the block .030 will be using flat top pistons installing an RV cam as well as using a 600-650cfm 4bbl. There will be a set of headers installed with dual exhausts. Can you think of any other goodies I might play with? |

look for a 7-8 digit number cast into the top of the runner under the valve cover. This will tell what head it is.

Where are the heads off the original motor. They're supposed to be 302's (offered from 85-90 on most 318's) which would be better than your 360's. The 360 heads will have larger passages for you as well as larger valves, but also more cc's equating to lower compression. I run them on my 318 and they do fine, but I'm looking for the 302's so I can have swirl port tech, higher compression, and same valve size with just a little work.
