Just one question. How did you reinforce the shock tower to be able to support the weight of the car when you swirched to coil-overs? Is there a bracket welded to the front bars? Can't quite make it out in the pic.

Default no shock towers

If you look at the photos closer you will see that there are no shock towers anymore. What i did was to cut the firewall, inner fenders ,floorpan, completely out of the car, leaving a shell to put a n entirely new frame and cage in. I made the frame out of 2x3 x .125 wall rectangular tube, slid it in under the car, jacked it up into place and welded it in. Then i installed a 14 point cage onto the frame. Next came the tricky part. I had to measure and locate where to put brackets for the stock upper and lower control arms, and make a mount for the rack and pinion to complete the new front suspension. Springs and shocks are afco coilovers. They mount in the stock shock holes in the lower arms and attach to the cage just outside the motor plates. The motorplate brackets and the plates keep every thing in place. The 17 inch engine setback made this possible, and also contributes to some wild wheel stands!
