Default Performance PCMs or Flashes?

I have a 2001 R/T and I would like to get the Mopar performance PCM for my Durango. But as most of you know, DC only makes the PCMs through the 2000 model year. I talked to Tom at Mike Leach and he said that he didn't have the base program for my truck (and he doubted that he would ever get it). He said that Jet makes a piggy back chip, but that it was a waste of money (I've read that here as well). He thought that I was just out of luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas (other than trading in my '01 for an '00?) I don't really care much about my speed limiter (though it would be nice), but I'd like my timing and rev limiter modified. Thanks for any help.

This system might help you out, but I know it isn't cheap:

Here's my question. Can the 2000 PCM not be used on a 2001? That would be a good question to ask DC for your specific application.....

Default 2000 PCM

2001 Durango R/T,

According to Tom at Mike Leach (I don't know why I use him as my expert, maybe because everyone speaks so highly of him), the 2000 PCMs (or flashes) won't work on the 2001s because of the precats and O2 sensors. I said that I'll be getting rid of the precats when I get my new headers, but he said that I'd still have the 4 O2 sensors to deal with. I don't claim to understand all the details, but if Tom said that the 2000 won't work, I guess that I'll just have to beleive him. If anyone has usd the 2000 PCM in the 2001s (for the 5.9), let me know, I'd be interested in hearing about it. Thanks.

NightBandit:

I've got an 01 R/T, and n't have any pre-cats, and only two O2 sensors. Check yours out. DC made a change midyear on the R/T's.

Default Precats

Ugg,

My '01 was built in October of '00. That meens that I DO have the precats as well as the toned down PCM. The worst of both worlds. Oh well,I guess that that's the price for being able to use 87 octane rather than 93 (which I use anyway). Thanks for the suggestion.

No pre cats on my '02 RT. When I called places looking for headers I was told by everyone that I had the pre cats. I think the CA. emmissions vehicles have them.

The headers are not installed yet. They do come with a larger Y pipe. Since welding is required they will be professionally installed. They have very thick flanges and are built well. They should be quality since they were expensive as hell.

I posted a message about my 00 durango r/t a little while back and how i screwed up the controller. After talking to Marty @ KRC, he told me that mopar DOES NOT make a controller for the durango r/t's... there was a note from mopar when selling the upgraded controller. Has anyone installed one anyway on an r/t? were there any lights coming on in the dash? How about the kenne bell optimizer?
