Question 440 Torque Plate

Hello everyone,
I have run into a problem locating a torque plate for my 440. On the central coast here in CA there is not a big mopar following, so none of the machine shops around here have any of these. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where I could get one cheap or else rent one for a week from one of you guys, I would be willing to leave a deposit with you and cover all shipping. I just can't afford the plates that I have found. Anyway, thanks for your help.

Matt

I'm suprised it is so difficult to find them in CA, which seems to have many high performance machine shops?
Sorry, I don't have any to let you use.

Dosn't MoPar have them? Try a MoPar shop? Or is that the problem. I really would not want to send it out myself.

Default Yeah I know

Yeah, I wouldn't have thought that it would be this difficult either. Unfortunately the central coast isn't very populated being almost exactly between LA and San Fransisco. If I were closer to either of these places I am sure it wouldn't have been a problem. But the machine shop I have been working with has called around to several other shops within a 50 mile radius and no one has a Mopar big block torque plate. Again if anyone has one I would be willing to leave a deposit and cover all the shipping. Thanks anyway Jim451, it's people like you that made me think I might be able to find one on this board. Thanks everyone.

Unhappy There aren't any

Hey rumblefish360,
That is the problem, there are absolutely no Mopar shops here on the central coast. Every shop around here focuses either on Chevy or Ford. So unfortunately I have to resort to asking you guys.

Question Don Little?

There seems to be a large contigent of Mopar racers in the Modesto area. I don't know how close this is to you. I think Don Little, Harry Holton, the Rayburns are in that area. Somebody there must have a torque plate.

I found a machine shop in Denton, Texas that had BHJ torque plates for almost all American V8s. I'll be using Wayne Calvert for all my machine work from now on.

We make Mopar torque plates. If you can't find anyone locally to help you shoot me an e-mail. I could sell you one and then refund the purchase price when you return it.

Matt:

BHJ (who makes most of the torque plates) is in Newark, CA, which as you probably know, isn't too far from you. You might want to call them and see if they know of a machine shop near you that has a BB Mopar plate. If they don't, maybe they will rent or loan one to you. BHJ's phone number is 1-510-797-6780.
