Porting 906 Heads for a 383HP-70
Hi
After months of studying theory(kidding) Ive started to grind and polishing my old 906 heads today. Some Q. Some material are to be taken at the standing long side of intake to make proper portmatching. Is it correct to smooth out the angle all the way in to the sideradius? Dont toutch the radie? The short radie looks like ok,if I grind them I will loose all flowspeed,,,,,,,or?? In the valvebowlarea the sharp edges of the valveguide cutoff are to be smoothen up,all the way into the guide or just the edge of the "platform"? If all the way into the guide at a 45degree or a long sweeper down into the bowl? Is it forbidden to grind the lower part of the valveseat? Just below some spots of the intakeseats are sharp edges caused by "seatringmaterial" Hope you understand what spots Im refeer to! Best regards Olle B Sweden Challenger R/T Conv. |

just blend the machined cut in the bowl area, to the casting. also blend the cut to the casting on the short side in the bowl. port match the intake to the gasket and raise the exhaust roof .060. you can smooth over the guide boss on the exhaust side too. Make sure you back-cut the valves, usually 30 degrees on the back-cut for intake and exhaust. its best to hit the intake seats with a 65 angle cut, enough so you can see it, then port up to it, but you need to roll the edge before you get to the 65. not alot, just a little.
