Both comments are true but if you take care of the heat it will work ! (Big,good trans cooler).
Atleast it has worked for me.......8" ATI on the street in ยด69 Charger.

Thumbs up A1

I drove two summers with A1 8" custom built converter on street. I had big cooler and no problems at all!

Default 8" for the street

For the single purpose vechicle I can see the 8". I think I would get tired of the constant rev's, not to mention the attention you draw from the local boys in blue. I remember a black Z28 the cops watched like he had just robbed a bank. He had a L-88 with 8" backing it and manual valve body and it wouldn't shift without barking the tires. Seldom was he seen without a cop behind him. (But I still think it was a cool car)

My 10 inch converter has been reworked by TCI to stall at 4500, and it drives only slightly worse than my old 2000 stall. Very streetable I'd say!!

The key is to keeping it cool like the guys above said.

Hmmm. There are "loose" and "tight" converters. My 8" was actually batter in normal traffic than my old 10" was, and so is Kimmos. The rpms very seldom go beyond 3000 at regular driving despite of the 6300 brake stall speed. The cooler I use is out of an old refridgerator and is not extra large. About 1.5 x the size of those that come in the cheapo kits.
