power steering
Hello all, I posted questions about putting power steering in my '68 charger, and now have started to gather parts, but still need some more help
Due to the fact that the boneyards near me have all newer stuff and the fact that they would never let you in to look for what you need, I am forced to piece this together. Originally a small block car, now 440. I have the correct pulleys, but am needing advice on other parts of the system. I have aquired a steering box from a 68 barracuda small block car, which, from what I can tell fom a parts interchange manual, will fit. Will it? if it does not, no big deal, I paid almost nothing for it, and could use it as a core to buy a new one. Included with it was the pump (federal, I believe) from the same car. I got the big block brackets, but looks like it will be too far in to line up with crank pulley. I have a line on a big block saginaw pump with brackets and pulley for a big block for cheap. would this be a better option? Also, I need a high pressure hose, and all the local stores around here do not have them. I know year one and others have them, but which one would I get. looks like it depends on which pump I use (saginaw looks like it takes a bigger hose end fitting) but is the steering box end of high pressure hose the same? I know this is a lot of questions, but I really need to steer this thing and manual steering with 245/45/16's on front and a big block is getting old fast! __________________ |
