318 pushrod length
Does anyone know what the standard length of a pushrod is in a 1968 318 engine? Engine has hyd lifters and stock rockers. Just need to know standard length and what kind of preload is on these suckers. thanks ~Jon

The production length of A engines is 7.50 inches, within a given specification range of 7.50 to 7.53. Not sure what the factory preload is. The range of adjustment on a stock hydraulic lifter, according to the Mopar Performance manual, is approximately .200 inch, so with it set up to run with the lifter in about the middle of it's range, I would assume that the preload should be around .100 inch. If anyone else has a more precise figure, or has played around some with the production lifters , please jump in. Unless you're changing things around for some reason, the factory valve gear should work just fine.
