Default preoiling a S/B

I was windering if anyone knows the oiling passage route for a small block. I was pre-oiling my new 340 and I was showing pressure on my gauge, the left bank of rockers and shafts were oiling but the right never started, about this time my cheap harbor frieght drill let the smoke out... So I guess the question is, where in the grand scheme of oiling passages is the right valvetrain?? thanks for any help.

There are passages in the block that won't open until things are rotated. You should have a second person turning the crank slowly by hand while you're priming the oil pump so it gets all the way through the block. Most people will suggest at last two full rotations. Otherwise, certain passages won't open and you won't get everything. This is also why they suggest varying the rpm level between 2000-2500 rpm when breaking in a cam so the oil hits all of it targets.
