Not sure but I would have to say no, since a 3.9 is RWD and the 3.5 is FWD. Well it would fit with lots of worfk. A RWD intrepid would also be nice. othen than that I say no. Not 100% positive. But I really doubt it. Also the 3.9 is basically a 318 that lost 2 cylinders.

that's exactly what i'm trying to do.....except i am going to try to use a magnum 360, but nobody seams to know how much that will take so i'm trying to learn through other ways......i have heard that the 360 and the 318 have essentially the same block and that they are pretty interchangeable. i have also heard what you said about the 3.9 and the 318(5.2) being interchangable, and i know that the 3.5 in the intrepid is not side-mounted.........so, if the 3.9 is similar to the 3.5 than we have a winner!!!!!!!!
i'm not sure that the whole idea is realistic, but it would be worth it if it did work...(TALK ABOUT A SLEEPER)

if anyone has any info that could help me in my crazy quest it would be much appreciated

thanks again

If you're going 360 crate in an Interpid, why not go to Mancini and just get the "elephant ears" solid mount setup? Solids really don't add that much vibration (unless your motor is 'nervous' anyway) and you can fab whatever mounts you want to it. Curous as to the rest of your frame setup to take the torque.

I have been waiting to see someone do just what your attempting. Post some photos when you actually shoehorn a v8 in there. I have a 96 Concorde I daydream about putting a 340 in, and grafting an Intrepid nose on, now that it's finally paid for, but my duster sucks up any extra cash I have, so prolly never will.

Brunobus_36,

You might try getting a copy of MOPAR's" 6 Cylinder Engines" part# P4876827 (or from Summit DCC-4876827). That might give you the info, but I don't think they have any info on motor mount positions (I can't remember). Also, you might pose this question over on www.dodgeintrepid.net , someone over there might know. As far as a 360 goes, all I can say is it won't fit in the 2000 Trep, so I'll have to stick to the 3.2.

Good luck,

Dave
