Default The Right Cam for 360 Stroker? (402/408)

Looking for 500 HP.

360 Stroked
Diamond Pistons 9.5 / 1
J Heads worked 2.08 intakes

Based on my research I think I should be looking at 500+ lift / short duration and a tight lobe seperation???

Thoughts on who makes the right grind or comments on my assumptions above?

mkm

To make a 500 hp small blcok you will need more compression(maybe 12:1), a set of better flowing heads like Indy or W3's ,and a big solid cam Like Hughes engines Line, or a big roller cam. And proabaly a Victor series intake with a big carb like the pro series 4150 line Holleys. This willhelp you achive what you are lookin for! Hope I have helped

if you are shooting for 500HP,I would go with some high flowing heads,an solid or roller cam with 230-240 duration@.050...

we have a combo of 4" stroke crank, 360 block, edelbrock heads, comp hyd. cam, 10.0 compression, very streetable, makes 500 HP and 510 ft lbs. at 5600 rpm. stock heads need severe porting, so edelbrocks save money and time, and are lighter, plus they resist detonation better. Brian

500 hp can be acieved without 12 to 1 comp and super exotic heads.

about 10.5 to 1 with aluminum head (edelbrock but ported up good) will keep away detonation on pump gas.
Also give it some good duration to keep cylinder pressures down for street gas. Atleast 525-550 lift. Lightweight pistons. Those 230-240 duration #'s are a tad low I feel. Try for atleast 245-250.
Maybe a fast rate cam designed for our large lifter should work good. 1.6 roller rockes for an added boost in lift. Put a good set of rods and stud the bottem end. Balance it to make it live happily. Windage tray. RPM intake or m1-single. Don't scrimp on the carb. 850 mech. sec. dbl pumper. msd

oh yea this should also be atroker motor to get up to the 500 range. I prefer the 360 block due to larger mains.408ci.

It may be a beast to drive but aren't we men. We are suppose to know how to drive. And boy doesn't that sucker hit.

72 cuda...street ride...drives an hour to the track, no trailers for me.
408ci,indy ported edelbrocks 2.02/1.60
eagle h-beams, studded mains
Ross pistons-10.25 to 1
comp cams-305/525...soon to try out hughes fast rate cams- 575lift range
RPM port matched-race prepped 750 mech sec. no choke horn&fully radiused.
TTI heddars-3 inch back and over the axle. Dynomax straight throughs.
3000 stall PTC converter
3.91 gear-727-shift kit
Full interior and ready to cruise.
7.50's at 92 mph with smaller heddars and exhaust 3500lbs-BFG drag radials.
