Default 318 Engine

I will be changing the short block on a 74 Duster with 318 soon. Here is a list of options that I have: 360 Mopar short block $1100, 360 reman long block $1300, 340 reman long block $1700 360 crate $3000. The car is running now with good 318 heads, edelbrock performer intake, T. Q. and 360 exhaust manifolds through 2" duals. the reason for the short block change is the block is cracked where the oil pressure switch is screwed in and the rear main seal was patched two years ago.

its all depending how much money you wanna spend, if i had those options, i'd go for the crate 360, with 380hp, and maybe throw on a set of edlebrock heads, headers, fatty intake, but that 'll run way over 6k (depending).

its all your call.

I'd have an engine built... would come in at the same price or less then the crate block, you'll know exactly what's in it, will have less of a chance of having problems, and if you do have problems you'd actually be able to deal with someone about them without getting the runaround.

if it were me, i would either go w/the 340 (good motor) or the 360 crate (its a crate! powerful..) it really does depend on how much money you WANT to spend. be careful though, mopars can get really expensive!
