Bushing blues...
I am replacing the front end on my '72 Swinger and I have run into a problem reassembling it. The lower control arm is not cooperating. When I tighten the pivot shaft nut the shaft just spins in the bushing and starts pulling itself out of the bushing. Installing the strut rod pushed it back enough to pull the pivot shaft about half way out of the control arm. Putting it back with a C-clamp only for as long as the C-clamp is on. Is there something I am not doing? Will it correct itself if I finish assembly and put weight on the front? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Steve P.S. I have included pictures of the problem with the green arrow pointing to the part of the shaft that is pulling out of the bushing. |

P.P.S. The inner sleeve of the bushing is also pulling out with the shaft. And here is another angle.
