Default Mopar Performance Converter?

I thought about buying a Mopar performance torque converters (175K) version. For a 727 torque flight. This thing can be had from Mancini Racing for 149.95$. So i was wanting to know what actual stahl this was. I know this can very but is rated at 2400-2500. How long could I expect this thing to last! This is going behind a 440 10.5:1 with a cam around 230-240 deg duration at .050 lift. The heads for this are ported substantually. with low rise duel 4 setup. (2- 600's cfm) This engine is stock steel crank so will my converter need balancing? Should be neutral right?

I would pass and pay the money for a decent converter. I bought one through a shop when I replaced my transmission. The part is remanufactured, looks sloppy and I just hope its not going to destroy the new transmission. All they are is a restalled stock converter.

I'll let you know how it works out when I put the transmission in this weekend

I just installed the 175K convertor in my 72 Dart. It stalls at around 2100 rpm. I thought it would be more but it will vary from one engine to the next. My 340 is fresh, 10:1 with ported J heads, 2.02 intakes, LD 340 intake and comp cams XE268 cam, headers and 630 cfm AVS. Still testing and tuning yet but the stall is not as it is advertised in my case. May be 100 rpm either way, its so hard to tell when your neck is snapping back off the line....kinda lose sight of the tach for a second!

I would seriously consider getting something other than a B&M converter. I've gone with TCI now and am completely happy. A1 and hughes makes excellent converters roo ,but the B&M didn't stand up. Better to spend the extra on the converter now than more money on the tranny and converter when it cuts lose and sends unwanted junk through the trans. By the way have you had any extra heavy duty parts put into the trans? I've split a couple 727 cases where the rear sprag is. The reason is that with substantial torque it can twist the rear sprag and it is just pressed in with grooves ,but you can buy aftermarket bolt in ones and that cures a lot of problems ,but it all depends on how much abuse the trans. is taking.
