Default Thermoquad ID? and a couple of ?s

I was out doing some spring cleaning and ran across,( among other stuff I forgot I had), a Thermoquad. The only numbers are stamped on the dr side rear pad is JO 4972S. Anyone know the application and CFM. Can I figure the CFM by the bore size? I 'm toying with the idea of swaping it on to the runner in place of the DP since it is a 323 geared car,( and i still remember the tell tale WOOOOMP............BAHHHHHHHHH when you step in them Can parts like strip kits still be had for it or am I stuck with just what I have?

Thanks RC

Default 1971 340 w/M/T

Good luck finding jets for this carb. They're different than the 1972 & later carbs. Sell it to someone restoring a 340 Duster .

nah, if it was a unit off a 440 like 72 or so I'd rebuild it. It's a definate rebuildable unit. I was just checking to see if it was in the ball park, and then check into seeing how well it would do against the holley I'm running. T

Thanks, but I think I'll put it up for sale with the rest of the stuff.

Two sources for Carter parts & kits:

Daytona Carburetor (FL) 386 427 7104
Carburetor Shop (OH) 573 392 7378

When the last company to own Carter unloaded the line they sold off the stock to these two companies.

I just ordered a rebuild kit for a 4121 @ $45 Wasn't crazy about ordering the kit, but the carb on the 440 started spewing gas allover the place. Eventually I'll put in a rebuild 440 with a Edelbrock 800, but not for a while.

Good luck

The strip kit I have doesn't fit those 71 TQ's. For whatever reason. I have never taken one of these old ones apart. I would guess it is worth it's weight in gold for the restorer.
