Brake question, Help?
New (I think 81 - 94) dodge truck 2WD 5X5.5 bolt pattern....
I want to convert to old (72 - 80) dodge truck 5X4.5 bolt pattern... Does anyone know if it's the same spindle or if I have to change the spindle to as well. Can't get any info from Dodge (big surprise). Just trying to save sometime at the wrecking yard with a micrometer? Mike |

I think the frame is the same from 72-94, or 93, before the new body style. If they are, worst case just grab upper and lower control arms, including the spindle. Just an idea.

You are correct...
The frame - even the upper and lower control arms are the same. The steering knuckle changes in 81 but not sure if it's significant? Well off to NAPA to have them pull an old style bearing set and a new style bearing set and see if the inner diameter is the same... Then have them pull old and new school rotors and check width... If those turn out to be the same I bet it's the same spindle...? I will let you all know! Mike |
