Lost some oil in 4WD, can anyone tell me why?
I was at a jobsite delivering some Ceramic tile. The house set up on a hill, that was muddy, and I thought I was gonna have some fun.
After I made it up (had to put it in low to make it), and unloaded the tile, I noticed a puddle of oil in front of my truck. Was concerned to say the least. Went down to a level area checked it out and had no leak. It wasn't dripping oil. Have set cardboard under my truck the last couple of nites, with no leaks, and the dipstick says full. I am lost Any help appreciated!! |

I'm guessing the oil puked out the breather tube. (I assume you are talking about engine oil) It is pretty common to lose a little oil if you a 4 wheeling in on an incline. I think the angle I heard the motor can run at without puking oil is 17 degrees. You may not have been close to 17 degrees, but if the truck was bouncing around a bit it could have easily puked out a little oil.
I don't think you have any need to worry. |

lost oil
if you have a 24 valve diesel this is very common as the vent is now at the front of the engine. the oil runs to the front of the engine on decel and the gear train picks it up blows it out the breather tube.note the 24 valve vent can be convertered to the old 12 valve system thats on the side of the engine.dealer probably won't do the conversion under warranty unless it is a buy back case for this condition.
