What is spark scatter and how do you correct it? I have a MSD cap how do you keep the terminals on the inside of the cap from oxidizing? Thanks in advance for the help, later shawn

I'll try the contact cleaner. Yeah I need to get a garage built sometime, lol. It really sucks working in that cramped little lean too, but for now it keeps it out of the weather a little. the guy's name is Ken, I worked for him after I got out of school delivering autobody parts. He helped me get a loan to buy my Roadrunner, and that's where it was painted. He's a pretty cool guy. later shawn

HMMM Maybe the spark jumping from one terminal to another terminal causing a misfire. If that happens I think the cap to rotor indexing should be checked. At least that is what I think spark scatter is.

Spark scatter occurs when the spark voltage is high enough to fire more than one plug inside the cap. Usually caused by dirt or gunk inside the cap, allowing the spark to jump from the rotor to multiple terminals. Solutions are: 1) thoroughly clean inside of cap 2) replace cap and rotor with one with a larger radius from shaft centerline to terminal.

Other similar conditions are cracked cap - sometimes the cracks can't be seen, and also crossfiring of plug wires which are too close to each other. Solutions are: replace cap, 2)Get new and better plug wires.
