Default rear gear train

with the crank, cam, and accesory gears on the front of the engine this sets up harmonics threw the crankshaft. By locating the gear train on the rear of the engine this cuts down on the harmonics threw the engine. The other big plus of the new engine is the common rail injection system. This allows better control of the injection of fuel. Cummins is able to have the injector fire twice on the compression stroke.
