Question Durango Tire Wear Problem?

I have a 98 Durango.. And i put some 31" BFG A/T on it.. They have lasted about 35,000 miles so far.. I replaced the brakes the other day and noticed the front tires are bald on the inside 3 inches of the tires... Any ideas what could be wrong? Is there a simple fix?

Default 2 things

1)How often are they rotated? On our 4X4's I've been told to rotate every 6000miles. (every other oil change)

2)On my previous Dakota I had the same problem. It was an alignment problem. I was off-roading in Colorado on vacation and one day about 6months later or more my father-in-law said "hey your tires are wearing funny" Sure nuf it was out of alignment. What ever was out canceled out the other thing that was out because it drove and braked fine. I think I had put on about 6000 miles or more. Sorry some of it is vauge but it as in '95

Hope this helps
Todd

I consider that normal to put 35,000 miles on a set of tires. The original tires on my Dakota wore out in 29,000.

The fact that your tires wore on the inside indicates that you need an alignment.

Thumbs up Thanx..

Alignment sounds right.. I took it out on the sand dunes and hit some pretty good size bumps. I figured that was it. Does anyone know if it is possible to get an inch or two of lift in the front without a lift kit? I've heard something about tighting up something but im not sure what. Or would longer or stiffer shocks give a little lift? Just curious.

Dodgejeep:

Yes, you can lift the front of your D without a lift kit. What ya do is to crank the Torsion Bars. You crank two full turns for every inch you want. I beleive you crank em clockwise for up. Mark your starting point both on the nut and bolt. I did mine 4 turns up. I've hard of allot of people goin 8 turns.

Well, Good Luck

Question Cranking Torsion bars

Thanx Ugg..
If I do crank those things will that create any uneven tire wear? I saw a car lowered doing that and it tilted the tires al little bit. And another question... For anyone who would know. How much lift would it take to put 33" 12.50 tires on?
