Default SFI flex plate ? Whats the deal?

I'm just about to bolt in my trans, and I was told to use a SFI rated flex plate. I have a non SFI 8 bolt flex plate new in the box. Besides Tech inspections. what is the difference between the two? Is the SFI stonger ? I have a 71 Demon 451 / 727 with a brake. I hope to be in the 10 sec range on the motor and 9's on a single plate system. Can I get away with using the mopar performance flex plate I already have? (Yes my crank is 8 bolt)
Thanks..... A

Default

I believe the rule book states that any car running 9.99 or quicker must run a SFI certified flex plate.

My car is ETI inspected to 10.00 and the flex plate was not a point of inspection although I use a SFI plate, the inspector didn't care about it.

Default go with the plate

I used a stock mopar plate on my blower motor + blew it to pieces at a car show just leaving the show so if your pushing a lot of torque go with the sfi I put a B&M plate + it works great + is much stronger then the stock dodge.

Default not really

not really I had given it some good shots coming in down a long road leading to the show feild but I was just on stall when it broke and I thought I had popped my motor form all the knocking of the torque converter bolts.I had to be flatbedded home + I ordered the SFI plate the next day + never looked back.I just ordered one for my challenger.
