Weird Mystery Mopar?
Out of all the mopars ever built what one would be the strangest and most rare Mopars out there like oddball mopars ever built like the fabled 71 Challenger T/A some say it existed some say it was picture enhancements? and like the few 72 Charger 440 six-pack cars that were built and the few 72 Challenger Convertables?
i have even heard they made a few 6-pack motors in 73? where is fact and where is fiction? kinda like that odd Black 71 Hemicuda that used to cruise town late at night maybe it never existed! |

A very rare model I have seen only two of in Australia is the 1970 VG Valiant Hardtop "Mexicana".
This vehicle is simmilar to the US Dodge Dart of the same year except for the Australian style square headlight grill and concave rear window but with the strange feature of a vinyl roof with C pillars that were extended by quite a few inches either side of the boot lid (trunk). Apparantly they were all 318 Fireball console shift autos. It has been rumoured that the panels came from Brazil and were used on the last few hardtops before it was replaced by the all Australian VH model in 1971. I have no idea how many were built but they look much funkier than the regular 1970 hardtops. |

I too have heard similiar stories over the years.I read something about a few 71 T/A being seen at the Hamtrack factory early in the 71 production run,and there were a few 6 pack cars built in 72,I believe only three were built.

The Hemi station wagons have to fall into the oddball category.

maybe not the rarest but it was an oddball to me.
One year at the Nats a guy had a 67 sport fury with a factory 440, 4 speed, and 3.91's. The orginal owner special ordered it for towing. It just struck me because I had a 67 sport fury as my first car. And my stepfather still has the family 67 sport fury his dad bought new. Ours were the more mundane 318 auto's. |
