Lightbulb Shocking Development

A couple of chat members said they had '73-'74 B bodied cars like me. They have found out that the stock shocks are pitifull. I haven't found an aftermarket shock for this application yet, so I did the next best thing, modify a shock for a different car.
AFCO makes a Pinto street stock shock, part number 1042, that is real close. All you need to do is cut down the tube at the bottom of the shock so it will fit in the lower control arm. At the top you need to turn down the shoulder below the threads to the o.d. of the threads so the threads will stick out enough. Also weld on a washer to engage the other side of the top shock mount. I plan to run it this week if it doesn't rain, and will let you know how it works. See attach picture.

Default More than paint

Cageman, this shock won't work for you. Your B body has different (read bigger and better) shocks. Also, an Afco shock is more than white paint and a sticker. The name AFCO is stamped into the metal body. I think good shocks are available for '68-'71 B bodies.

I've got a stock shock on the right front of my B-Body Charger, and it seems to work fine. You have to be careful though, some are junk. I checked how stiff it was compared to an AFCO, and it was very close. I'll look up the manufacturer and number, I forget.
