Question 906 head question

I have 1970 906 heads. Are the combustion chambers 88cc or 79.5cc? I have heard both ways and was wondering which one is accurate.

Well I have just answered my own question. The 906 heads are the open chamber design which in turn puts the chamber volume at 88 to 90 cc. The 915 heads are in very close relation with the pre 1967 heads having a 1.60 exhaust valve. All 915 heads are a closed chamber head which puts the combustion chamber at 78.5cc.

Gonzoe211-

If in fact that you have 906 heads then the combustion chambers are 88 to 90cc, not 79.5 cc.

If you go to www.moparmusclemagazine.com and click on the scrolling banner at the top that says "cylinder heads vol. 1" you can read up on the production of all chrysler heads including the 906 and 915 haeds.

well you got me scratching my head now 88cc sounds a little bit to much. in the big block mopar performance book by chuck senatore has the 906 rated at 83cc. also a friend of mine had told me he got his heads professionally checked and came to 79.5. and youst yesterday i heard the same answer

So the factory said 79.5 cc but in reality it was more like 82-88cc.
But if you like to blueprint an engine as we do in Stock/Super Stock its like abow.
