Unhappy fuel starvation problem need help!

I've got a 318 with a 600 cfm holley 4160 vac sec 4barrel carb. The engine starts to bog down at around 4200 rpms and if i let off throttle and give it again at low rpm it would still bog, i would have to let it idle for a few sec. to fill the fuel bolws back up. so i thought it was the fuel pump, i hooked up a fuel gauge and the pressure would only drop 2-3 psi, normal pressure at 7psi. Could it be the volume of fuel that is insuficent? I would think that vol. and pressure would go hand and hand but i may be wrong. Also i have just rebiult a 9076 Thermoquad and was thinking about using that insted of the holley. What do you guys think? The car is used daily so its not an all out racer but it sees the track every now and then. Thanks for the input.

Better check the float level.

Try the TQ and see if it works any better.

Got to get my hands on it to fix it...

Post Fuel problems

If you have any in-line filters make sure you check them for blockage, better still bypass them and check again. If any changes have been made to the fuel system re-check all of them. Whar type of fuel pump are you running? And volume is a bit different than pressure. Wedgehead

The pump is a stock style mechanical and the fuel filter is new so there is no block in it. I have ajusted the float level many times and still no luck. again thanks for the help, im going to try the TQ ill let you know if it works

Default Hereeee, we come, to save the day......

If that TQ doesn't work get a dial type timing light and hold the RPM up around 3000, dial it in and see where your max advance is set, you may have a frozen up advance mechanism or something else is going on in there.
