Question First time engine builder

I am getting ready to assemble my 360 with edelbrock heads.
I am using copper head gaskets. What should I use to seal around the water holes? Any other suggestions would be great!

I just had a 340 built with Ed heads and I wanted to use the copper gaskets also. My engine builder said that would be a big mistake, unless it was a race only engine. I wound up using the Fel-Pro Blue gaskets at about $31.00 each.

Try calling Edelbrock's tech line - I think you will get the same answer.

Tell us about your project - what kinda car, drive train, etc.

I am using the MP 10:1 shortblock. The thing is a mess. The left bank deck hieght measures -4, 0, -2, -6 the right bank measures +2, 0, +8, +4. I understood I needed 40 thou. clearence so I bought 50 thou. head gaskets??????? It is going in a '72 Demon with a pro built 727 with reverse valve body and a 4000 stall. I have MP single plane M1 intake, 1.6 roller rockers, MSD 6al and dist., holly 750, and an 8 3/4 with 452 gears. 29.5" slicks. I installed disk brakes, moved the springs in and installed frame connectors. I am out of $$$ so must use what I have. First race car------can't wait. What do you think......lows 12's, high 11's?????????

Post Camshaft Specs?

What camshaft? Don't make the same mistake that most of us do and that's to overcam the engine. With 10 to1 you shouldn't need any more than 246-250 deg @ .050. Any more than this and you'll lose that all important cylinder pressure. In your case very important because your compression is a bit low to start with. So be very careful with your cam choice. Good luck, Wedgehead
