Air Shocks
I put a set on my 74 Duster, put air in and went for a ride, after a little while I hear rubbing I get out and look and the fenders are hitting the tires. I drive slowly home and try to inflate the shocks but they wont take air, I could hear hissing by the top of the left shock I checked the lines and they were ok so I figured I had a defective shock so I removed the shocks and exchanged them for a new set at Carquest. I installed the new set, went for a ride and the same thing happened. What is going on ? Do you think that I am just unlucky and got 2 defective pairs ? Or is there something else that would cause this ? I need the height in the back so that my tires clear. Are there non air shocks that you can adjust the ride height ? Any help would be appreciated. Also the shocks were Gabriel brand which I thought was good brand, or atleast it used to be.

I currently have them in the Cuda now. Just make sure the air line is not crimped, seated all the in, cut square and held on tightly.
Thats it for me. No problems. 15 years and goin. |

My Duster doesn't use air shocks and I have plenty of clearance for 15x10's. $30 helper leafs along with a set of coil over shocks from a '72 Ranchero GT. I never rub, even when the trunk is full.
