i don't know about a 2stage shift kit, but that sounds like a good car. grab it if ya can! go to http://tmezz.mezzweb.com/ to look at my 340...all specs are there.

my 340 is bored .040 and i have 12.5:1 compression with J heads and a single plane edelbrock aluminum torker II and holley 650DP. my pistons are also forged and full float.

i have a 727HD with racing bands and a 5.1" second gear and a big shift kit (don't know what kind, leeper transmissions put it in for me....i just told him big, and he is very trusted) i also put a TCI Street Fighter torque converter that stalls around 3200-3800 rpm.

anything else you wanna know, ask or look at my site.

Just rebuilt my 340 to 71 specs and it cost me $2500.00 CDN to get it done. I would think that you should pay somewhere around that much if it is in great shape. Maybe a little less because it has some miles on it. Don't know about the shift kit though. Have you heard it run? Why is he selling it? Check it out thoroughly because once the money changes hands its yours no matter what!

Just so you know, a 71 340 should have 10.5 compression & 2.02 intake valves. This sounds more like a 72 motor which would also have a cast crank, 71s had a forged crank. This is not to say that this would be a bad motor, but its worth would not be as high.

Mr Mopar: what all did you do to yours? mine was about $4,000 to rebuild it. i did have it bored .040 over and put 12.5:1 compression full float forged pistons in with racing bearings and rings....

1972 roadrunner, I had it bored .030, crank ground, acid tanked with new cam bearings and frost plugs, replaced only 3 rods (others were o.k.), decked the block .005, new rod and main Clevite 77 bearings, re-sized rod big ends, new bushings and re-sized small rod ends, heads bowl cut to 2.02 intake valve seats, and exhausts cut to bowl seats, replaced guides, mopar perf. springs and set installed height. I bowl blended the ports myself. Some exhaust valves replaced and only 1 intake valve replaced. Head milled another .005 ( was milled .040 before). I took the block home and installed the cast 10.3:1 pistons and rings myself, along with heads etc. Thats mostly it. It's still not as fast as I think it should be but I'm working on it. Carburation and timing are up next.

sounds like the motor had some problems....replaced 3 rods and some valves... it would have costed me more to have to do any of that, and my machine guy told me the heads hadn't been milled before and that they were fine. maybe it was the labor charges etc. that made mine so expensive. i had to order all my parts...really sucked. took about a month to do the rebuild only because of parts...
