I need help choosing the right carb.
I bought a '78 360hp from some old guy. The thing was Frankensteined out and has a TQ from an '83 Diplomat on it. I've replaced the intake manifold to get rid of all the emissions nonsense, now I need help choosing a good carb. This is going into a daily driver, but I'm hoping to get a little performance out of it too. Any suggestions?

That really depends on the modifications done to the motor and the modifications your planning on doing to the motor.
From the hip I would send the TQ to demonsizzler for a street/strip rebuild and that would be cheap and you'll get excellent results (So I've heard). If you really want a new carb you could try a Holley Street Avenger 570 of 670 (Again it depends on what your trying to gain) or maybe an Edelbrock 625 carb. These are all good street carbs. The regular Holleys and Demons require a bit more tuning and are a little bit more tempermental when it comes to climate and elevation, but they make good street carbs too, but it does take a little bit more work. |
