What would be a good all around sounding system to put in a 99 dakota? I already have a Panasonic head unit. I would like a good bit of bass but I also want a good balanced sound.

Thanks

perp, 6.5 inch components. AVI, Eclipse, are great sounding. Soundstream speakers and amps are nice too. A couple 10 inch or maybe even one 12 Eclipse, AVI, Soundstream sub. Alot of people really like Focal too. I have Eclipse 55040 CD player, Soundstream 404 Rubicon amp, 2 10 inch budget JBL subs(eventual replacement)and am going for AVI components, to be installed in the next week i hope. Eclipse CD sound quality and user friendliness is awesome.

Cerwin Vega makes the best sounding, highest rms power handling speakers I've ever seen. Also US Acoustics amps are very good (ultra low thd ratings and high power) which is a very good thing :-)

Default Speakers

I think you should check out CDT for speakers. Their web site is at www.cdtaudio.com.
If you decide to go with those and need help finding a dealer you can email me.

Well to start get a good head (no offence on the panasonic) but the head makes the whole system then get a good sub and amp for your bass next replace the factory speakers and last get an amp for them thats how I did mine and it didn't break the bank and I was more than happy every time I changed something.
for your sub try a steath box www.crutchfeild.com thats what I got in my Ram1 12 inch with a RF punch 250 it thumps pretty good and I agree with dodge shadowman the cirwin vegas are great speakers thats what I have in the rear soon to have in the doors good luck I'll post a pic of my steath box so you can see it if you want
