Default Boreing a 360 block

I have a 74 model 360 block to use in my mod this year. Seems like i remember being told you bore the 360 blocks made before 77 .100 over ? Is this right or was I dreaming?
Also who makes a good set of race pistons for a 360 stock stroke 6.123 rod at a resonable price?

My mopar circle track engine book says that 71-76 blocks were made with the 340 water-jacket so you can go 40 over and have the same wall thickness as the newer blocks. I just punched out a 85 block to 30 over and it ran real well last night. I am very pleased, put some flat top pistons in it. The book says that most engines can be bored 60 over but 77 and newer thin wall light castings should be limited to 30 over max and 20 perfered. Looks like I listen well, I even had an older block to pick from, oh well. this is a great book but i don't think its available any more. by reading it it was written around 80 or so. Good Luck

Default Deep Pockets?

Racedude_5. Here's my two cents. The questions isn't how much can you bore a 360 block, but how deep are your pockets? Most Mopar pistons are more expensive than comparable Chebby pistons anyway, and the most affordable ones are standard overbore sizes, such as .030 over. I'm not sure you are going to gain that much in power by going .100 over, and I don't think it would be worth the extra dollars spent for special pistons. Perhaps you already have a set of pistons? In that case go for it. If not, go .030 over.
They say there is no replacement for displacement, so if you really want the cubes why don't you stroke the 360? Cast stroker cranks are available from Mother Mopar.
Attached find a picture of a block being bored at Kirt's Automotive.
