Default can a 383 crank work in a 400

The jurnales are the same size. I think as long as I use the 383 balancer it should work. It`s plan to put a 400 4speed into an A-bodie, 440`s are to hard to put plugs in. when in such a small hole

Yer right about the crank popin in. I would have it balanced myself. I would think that it would be balanced for a 383. Seeing that the 400 has larger slugs, would this throw off the balance a bit?
The larger slugs gotta have more weight.

Why not just put a 440 crank in the 400 block? There is tons of kits out there for that combo.

I second the 440 crank in the 400 block. You can still select a pretty mild cam and have a nice smoothe running sleeper. Check out http://www.musclemotorsracing.com/mu.../kitsframe.htm

You can't beat the price!
