Default more truck help...Klune V underdrive??

ok,as some of you know i am building a 78 dodge W150,it will have a 360 with 9:1(?) compression,204/216 crane cam, pocket ported heads, headers, duals, and a TF727it will keep the NP203,and full time 4wd...4.10 gears and 35" tires are also in the works...

I am concidering addind a Klune V underdrive system, but do not know if it is worth it,also which unit would you reccomend and why "David"(4:1 reduction) or "Goliath" (2.71:1 reduction)

this truck is primarily a daily driver/tow truck, with occasional(weekly?) off road time

It's not worth it, from what I've read on them.

rumblefish: It does suck a lot of gas, but haulin ass may be exaggerated a bit.

umm...klune V underdrive is GEARS not pullies,it mounts between your T-case and trans to give you the opton of more gear reduction(it has hi range 1:1 and low range, either 2.7:1 or 4:1)

I really don't see why you would need them, unless your a rock crawler. If you mostly wheel in deep mud you'll need more tire speed instead of a slower one. However I'm sure you can still use that low range sometimes. I've seen a few rigs with some type of gear reduction and they didn't seem to have any problems on the highway, plus they could idle up almost any hill. It's your truck and your $$$.
