how strong are my rods?
whats up mopar people? here's my question. i'm bulding my 440 engine over again i suspect the horsepower is going to be around 525.will the stock rods handle this kind of power? they will have arp bolts and the engine won't spin past 6500 rpm. let me know if i have a time bomb on my hands. this is a budget engine also. thanks gearripper.

rods
I dont know if you are useing this engine for race or street. But if you only turn it to 5800 instead of 6500 it will last a lot longer, regardless of wich rods you use. If you are biulding a street motor that will not see such hi rpm every time it is ran you wont need aftermarket rods. But If you are biulding it for raceing then you better get some. Like the old saying goes you can spend a little now or you can spend alot later. It`s your money!

Mopar Connecting Rods
Magnum rods were some of the strongest ever made for street motors, infact im not quite sure why Chryco bothered to make 6pack rods, as they where just heavier/bulkier (but over kill when it came to toughness). The rotating mass was way too high, they would chew through the main bearings before they'd ever crack. but the regular mopar Magnum rods are the good stuff. I've seen them used in applications way over 600hp and no thrown rods.
