steering help
I am driving a 70 dodge duster with a steering quikner. The problem is when I am racing and have to turn the wheel quick it acts like there is no power steering. The belt is tight, plenty of fluid. When sitting still at around 1,000 rpm it steers good and steers fine unless you really get on the wheel.
What trick is there to make it steer easier? |

Is it a new pump or an old one? Maybe a new pump would help.

p/s pump
I have a friend that experienced the same problem. It seems that the stock pump doesn't put out enough pressure to keep up with the quick steer. If it's not against the rules, an aftermarket pump will solve this. If it is against the rules, try a smaller pulley on the pump to turn it faster at a lower rpm. Just a suggestion. I have never tried this, but my friend did for a couple of weeks until he got an aftermarket pump. He said that it seemed to help. Hope this helps, and......................See ya at the track!!
