Default 383 timing help

OK, I need some help[ determining what the best timing is gonna be for my 383. Before I start, let me say its in a 6500lb 1968 W200 Power Wagon with a 4 speed trans. OK, its a brand new motor, .030 over, 454/480 cam, 906 heads with 2.14/1.81 valves and sligt bowl work, Holley 750 vacuum secondary, Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold, Mopar iron adjustable rockers, Mopar electronic ignition with an orange box, Holley blue pump and regulator, and stock exhaust manifolds (no one makes headers for this truck!!!!!), with dual 2 1/2 inch exhaust and Flowmaster 3 chambers. What do you guys thing for intial, total, and total with vacuum connected????? I drive the truck at sea level in the San Francisco area (makes a HELL of a commuter in downtown SF!!!!!!) and I almost always take off in second gear, as first is so low and useless on the street. The bottom end isnt really there in second, I think it maybe from the intake manifold being more of a higher rpm manifold, but its what I have! What kind of jetting should i be running at my altitude in this big of a truck? I have an original version of the Holley Pro Jection 900cfm throttle body fuel injection set up I was thinking of trying. Thanks all!!

Carb - Holley is usually close in what they supply - I believe they are 72's in the 750 vac. sec. from factory - which should be fine. Do you have the 3310 with no sec. metering plate? I would leave it alone.

Tiiming - best way I know how to do it (as all engines in different locations are different - best to do this in drive w/ inital timing around 0 deg and advance from there) - disconect vac. advance - hook up a vac. guage and timing light - start engine and let it warm up - set mixture screws for highest vac. and reset idle - bump timiing by 2 deg. - if vac. came up - re-adjust mixture screws and idle - bump timing again by 2 deg.

If you keep repeating this, you will reach a point where vac. is not going up - you are now at your best intial timing point - re-check mixture and idle - let 'er burn. Also good idea to keep drive checking for that beautiful ping, ping sound.
