Default Manual Choke kit for Holley on Challenger

Hi
Some days ago Ive got the advice to mount a choke on my carb to get better idle.
I have blocked the heatrisechannel, the engine starts well but I have no idle at all for the first nearly five minutes!!
After that it starts and idle perfect!!
The solution is a manual choke!!
Just wonder ,,,,,Isnt it just to put a wire to the carb?
Ive seen kits including different plates with links and feathers!
Can anybody explain why I need those parts to get the manual choke function to work out well!!
Thanks and best regards Olle B

if there is already a lever on the carb, then all you need is the cable... some of those kits are to swap from electric choke, to manual...all i used out of the kits were the cable, and the mounting bracket to help hold the cable still, because my choke was hard...i have lubed it and cleaned it sense then...

good luck w/the lifters!
