Help Steering column ?

I am building a 65 B-body and have a steering column problem. The steering column had been changed and the steering wheel is too close to the dash. The car has a manual box but the car was once a automatic. The owners some time ago started to change it over to a 4 speed. The column is thought to be from a manual shift and power steering car. I bought adapter from Firm Feel to move the column out but the it has a smaller end on it that the column slides over. The end that slides over the steering box is OK. Did plymouth have a different coupler for the different steering boxes. Any help would be greatful. Thanks Ron
