Question Cheap connecting rods ?

Somebody can tell about to CAT Power Engine Parts?
http://www.catpep.com/Products/ProductList.asp
In eBay sell con-rods 'H' bean around $400 the set. Some difference with Eagles rods?
They are made in China or in USA? They are of good quality or are waste?

And with respect to brand SCAT?
http://www.scatcrankshafts.com/products02.html
in eBay they are also around $400.
At the moment I do not think about buying connecting rods, I only want to know that quality it's and if anyone is using them.

CAT is all China. The design the stuff here and ship the CAD drawings to Mao. The metal is ANSI rated, so I dont think the quality is an issue. I have one of their Fluid Dampers (SFI=
18000 RPM rated!) and like the quality and the price. I have an older catalog of theirs.

It's possible that there may be a small electronic part in the ignition system that may have been made in China...but I would never knowing spend my American green backs on anything made in China unless I just have no alternative, like shoes....ever try and buy a pair of shoes not made in China?....

I'm not slamming all asian imports, just Chinese imports, remember these are the people that still hold 3 Americans hostage (for over a year now) steal our nuck secrets, air craft and any other technology they can get there hands on and flog it back to the American consumer disguised in red white and blue boxes with mediocre at best quality.

I've been in this discussion before on this board and I'm not going to re-iterate all the facts.

It's my choice and I choose to not give them ANY of my money to build Nukes and point them back at us.

CAT has not as yet answered my email......we'll see if they ever do....

I hear you on that one. Thats why I'm not building a SLOW EXPENSIVE import, I hate foriegn crap. The economy's problems would be close to none if we did'nt allow shitty imported cars in the states. If it were'nt for Honda, Mitsubishi, Susuki, and all those shitty Asian car companies, our Country would be so better off economically and we ALL would have ALOT more money and finacial security in our pockets.

Bottom line, BUY AMERICAN.

Nuke em again

I know its ignorant, but hey what the hell.....

Don't kid yourself. We all may have something from China in our motors if we use aftermarket componants.

Alot of the aftermarket rod business, especially the lower end I-beam rods are manufactured in China. Nothing to be afraid of as long as they are inspected before you use them.

Eagle SIRs especially. These are great rods, they are light and stronger than oem componants. They use ARP bolts to boot. You just have to make sure the measurements from the machine work are in tolerances before you bolt them in your engine.

Quality will improve over time, just be careful in the meantime.

i have a set of the CAT H beam rods, but have not used them yet. They will be used in a 4" stroker crank for a 340. They look extremely well prepared.

I also have a set of the Eagle SIR I beam rods, and if you were just rebuilding an engine or was building a mild bracket racing engine these would be an excellant set of rods to use.
