Help Main cap question??? Hemi knowledge needed.

Hey fellas.
Im getting ready to tear down the 354 Hemi to see why the fella I got her from couldnt turn the engine over after its rebuild.
I was told by someone that it may have been that one of the main caps were installed wrong. Do they mean backwards or in the wrong order, cause I heard that can mess up an engine?
If so, is there any way to tell the order they should go in? I know sbc's have there's numbered, but how can you tell on the old Hemi motors? If I cant figure it out, will I have to have the block line bored or what? Thanks for the help, its driving me CRAAAZZZYYYY. HG

I would remove the caps one at a time until you can turn the crank, then youll find out wich one is hanging it up. when you find the rascal turn it around and see if it helps any. Plastigage all of em if that doesnt work.

The main caps should have the number cast in. When properly installed the bearing lock tab grooves will be on the same side.

He might not have set the endplay. Loosen everything up, hit end of crank back and forth w/ deadblow/plastic/brass/whatever hammer and retorque it all to specs.

Could be ring clearance as well. Odds are it is either rods or mains. May have installed oversize bearings on a std crank. To be safe, I would plastigauge all mains/rods.
