The reason it is bad, is that "newer" cars, that is 64ish and up, do not have a rear pump on the transmission for fluid. It is only in the front. So with your wheels turning, even in neutral, it causes parts to move in your transmission, heating it up. But since you have no rear pump to move the fluid, you eventually burn up your transmission, if you tow it for any length of time.

Thanks Andrewh,
So when I do tow this car your saying DO NOT tow without removing the driveshaft?? I don't have an extra yoke for the transmission tail peice so do I just have to remove the driveshaft and drain the trans fluid? Are there any other suggestions? I'm glad I asked this question I have heard conflicting advice. Thanks again all.

Well you could find a way to wire the drive shaft up under the car. So the regular yoke keeps the fluid in, but it would be safer to just drain it. You could cheat a bit there, and raise the car a bit higher then your towing height, and then pull the drive shaft till it stopped leaking. You may save some fluid that way. But definately pull the drive shaft.

Hey if you do this a lot, Mopar Performance sells a PLug and Cap package (P/N P4120280) that has a plug to fit the tailshaft. Or, if you are like me, and want to be cheap, a 50 count bottle of Tylenol works pretty well too! Just cut the bottom off of it, and carefully slide it over the splines to engage the outer dust seal, and the inner seal. I'd wrap some duct tape around it and the tailshaft housing to hold it too. I say to cut the bottom off, because the top make a good handle to pull it out with.
