The Torker II isn't a bad intake. It lacks low end and throttle response. Being a single plane design, this is something that they have. This intake will have good fuel distibution. Being an open plenum, it will breath easy. In turn, it will give good fuel mileage if used with a small cam and at cruise speeds.
In a head to head compare with other intakes, it fairs good in HP output. Standing next to a strip dom. , it'll loose in the HP & torque ratings. (Might even get burried bad.) Edelbrock listed this intake in the 1500-6500 rpm range, with the intended max power output @ 1.5 hp per cid. I have seen guys run this intake into the high 11's. Look at it like this. A max effort 340/360 could yeild 500 hp. The Strip Dom. is a race intake. Unlike the street Torker II. The Holley should be used in Max effort street/strip and race areas. Big time horse can be had with this intake. It will have the same feel as the Torker II beong that it is also a single plane. If you can get the Torker II cheap, grab it if it fits the HP plan. |

I ran across an issue from, I think, Mopar Muscle. Where they tested a handful of single 4bbl intakes for SB Mopars and then a 6pak. This has been within the past 12 months.
If I remember, the new Edelbrock Air-Gap had the best numbers and was followed by the Holley Strip Dominator. Kinda surprising since the Strip Dominator has been around forever. I was suprised where the Torker(s) landed. They did not perform as well as I would have thought. |

Well, the torker manifolds are fairly old designs and they don't benefit from the computer modeled ones of today, which is why the air-gap manifold runs so well, that and the dual plane design helps. I have heard a lot of people who run the air-gap manifold have had really good results, and plan on using it for any small-block, except for a drag race application.
The torker series manifold is a good manifold, its just a little dated. Roger |

Due to not having head flow numbers and exact cam specs via events, I had to use for the heads, the title of
"Wedge, pocket ported, stock valves" The cam specs can be semi worked in. The program wants this info that the Comp Catolog dosn't surpply. The cam card should have it. Events of valve openings and closings. The DTD has a calc to help. The Comp cat also dosn't surply the intake centerline. The lobe center angle is known. The rest the computer figured. _RPM___HP____Torque___W/O mufflers, 2000___102___268 .........Peak power increased to; 2500___139___291 3000___176___308 3500___228___342 4000___285___375 4500___338___395 5000___382___401..........423LBS of torque @ 5000 rpm 5500___409___390 6000___423___370..........451 HP, @ 6000 rpm A better tire and a look at the suspension should speed you up and lower you ET some. It depends on weight, weight transfer, stall and how well your hooking up as well as a number of other things. Keep messing around 1 change at a time. I bet next time out, you'll drop a few 10th's. I can see 12.5's next time out if ya look and find with sucess. |

ohiodemon...
My experience is 100% with Rumblefish.... M1 (holley strip dominator) would likely do the best in your app... Although - second thought.... RPM Airgap because you don;t have the cubes... My experience the M1 really likes the cubes & will out perform an airgap on a stroked out small block for example. However, the small cube engines like the airgap rpm. This is a different topic than your original question but I think your carb is a bit small for what your building... But most would disagree with me.. I like lot's of carb (way more than holley recommends). Maybe an 850 HP holley on that...? |
