Default need some header help

Hello all.. I am looking for some advice or suggestions on which headers I should go with..
I have a 73 Charger SE with a 400 and a automatic tranny. It has PS and PB... I am a couple of weeks away from putting the motor back together and putting it back in the car..
The engine is 30 over and will be driven daily for about half the year, the rest of the year I pretty much drive it only when it rains...

I am trying to avoid the mess of getting a crummy set of headers, (something I sure we have all done at least once). So if any of you know of a set that will bolt up with little to no modifications please lemme know..

Thanks..... Jim

Jim, I have a 71 Challenger 440 6pack car, 727 PS, PB
Your Charger will have the same Engine bay dimensions. I installed my motor last week and i bought a set of Hooker Comp. Ceramic Headers They fitted great except Power steering box i had to Dimple a Tube but other than that they work great. TTI headers are some of the best out there but pricey like $500.00
mine were $330.00 but they are ceramic coated also the regular painted ones are much cheaper. Oh and one thing your 400 will have a little more clearance on the Headers than a 440 since it's a Low block. Have fun man and sounds like a fun car!

Pink - wouldn't the shorter deck height of a 400 amke the clearances tighter??

By the way, everything pink said is right. Everyone seems to agree that TTI are the best (and almost most expensive) way to go.

I believe Doug is right, the low deck block will place the headers lower. That would place them closer to the steering box, and closer to the road surface.

Yes I do believe the 400 will be about 3/4 of a inch lower then the 440... which could make the difference between headers fitting or not...
I've looked at the hooker super comps and also TTI.. I'm not sure if my budget will support them yet.. I havent gotten the machine shop bill yet...
anyone else have any experience with these headers or any else that may have worked well?

Jim
