Default oil pressure question??

Fellas, I recently had a 1982 318 block sent to the machine shop for some work for complete overhaul. It was bored to .060. I installed a Crane RV cam (mild), pistons, etc the things one does in a major overhaul, the heads were reworked, burnt valves replaced you know just your regular overhaul. It runs GREAT!!!
I am puzzled by something though. When I start this engine cold the oil pressure gage(aftermarket) reads 60 lbs. when I am at a stop light the oil pressure drops to 25 then picks up as I accelerate. I am still in the process of breaking in the engine, I don't have 200 miles on it and I am using Castrol 10w-30 as a break in oil. Should I worry about the drop in oil pressure after this engine warms up? Also is a 190 degree thermostat good enough for this bored out engine or should I run a cooler one?
thanks in advance for your help fellas.
Roland

it should be fine, as long as it doesn't go under 20psi... i now run valvoline racing 50 (strait 50 weight...) and it goes to 20 on me...and then on up to about 50 or 60 depending how hard i get on it.

i also use a 160 degree stat...water temp never hits 190 anymore (was about 210 cause of bad stat) so it runs very cool. i am also waiting on a high pressure spring for my oil pump, to keep it higher than hopefully 30...i hate low oil psi...especially on a high performance $4,000 motor

That pressure is very good at idle. Remember that oil thins out when it heats up, its very normal for pressure to drop to as little as 10 lbs. at idle. Expect the pressure to drop slightly as the engine breaks in as well. As long as you have 10 psi for every 1000 RPM in a stock engine, you're fine.
