Default clutch exploded

hi guys i race a 360 stock cast heads and crank with a mech cam setup !!
i exploded the clutch this weekend and the motor flared to 8200 !!
i'm wondering if i should tare the eng down and ck for damage ??
it was vibrating when we refired it but not skipping !! pretty sure it was way out of bal with the clutch in pecies !!
what do u guys think ?? should i tare it down ??

Dave, as long as it only spiked to 8200, there should be no need for a teardown. You said that it didn't miss or knock. If these symptoms occur, then yes, a teardown is necessary. Replace the flywheel or clutch or both, then fire it and listen for noise or other symptoms of internal damage. If it spiked, you should be ok.
