Thumbs up Carb Answers!

I recently installed an Edelbrock O2 sensor/meter in my 69 Charger. All I can say is Wow! It is a BIG time saver in helping to tune/dial every thing in.

I have seen a few Carb questions (Lean? Rich? Flat-Spot? Flooding after letting up on the throttle, etc...) and thought if they just had one of these gauges...

With the Edelbrock monitor, I was able to remove the electronics and transplant them in the ashtray. If you dont want to see it, just close it up. I know I can't make a warrenty claim if I need to, but it came out so nice this way...

The only picture I have is one I took "In Process", but you get the idea... The only thing I needed help on was welding the bung in the header pipe.

Nice job on the mount! I ended up mouting my gauges on my 1970 Dart in the ash tray area also.

That fits like a glove! Electronics gurus can make a meter such as the one pictures from a O2 sensor and a VOM. All specs for the 02 can be found on the literature in the box, just set the VOM to read the correct range and then mark the meter where 14.7 is for a reference. That meter you got there does all the fancy work for you. Does that 02 have a heater or do you wait a few minutes for the reading?

Hi 72Roadrunner,

The Gauge was about $130 or so from Summit. My thinking was... How much is my time worth in a trial and error method style of tuning an unknown carb setup (Street Demon) or should I spend a few bucks for this tool? I think I made the right choice!

Hi pishta,

The O2 sensor has 3 wires going to it, so I believe it is heated... On the other hand, both the instructions and actual use need about 2 minutes before the readings begin to register.

I got side stracked last night, and didn't get to take the pictures of the final product... I will post it tonight! (I do have a picture of the unrestored Charger

I did have to cut the "Butt-Holder" in the tray to clear everything though!
