Considering I saw a "fairly good" '54 Plymouth sedan listed for $2000 recently, it sounds like a good deal to me. The head gasket is easy to change on a flathead 6, but a gasket failure usually means the head should be milled. You can pull the head in about 30 minutes, and all you have to do is drain the radiator.

I have a '51 Club Coupe and I don't think you can go wrong at that price. Definitely check the head before you install the gasket. They usually need milled. Been there......done that

If '49 is like '51....the ship in the dashboard is just the "clock delete" panel. It doesn't mean anything other than that.
