Default Question about power/reliability of the slant six

Hey guys, sorry that I dont know more about them but I've never owned anything but a Chevy. I found a truck for sale, its a 1976 Dodge Power Wagon. It has the slant six, and is a 4x4. Does the engine have enough power to move the truck, and is the engine reliable? Im looking for a truck like this for a winter beater. Thanks.

In my opinion, there is no engine more durable than a slant 6. They make good torque because of their long stroke, but in a 4X4 it's going to be geared for pulling stumps, not speed.

Here are a couple of good slant 6 forums where you might get some input from guys who own slant trucks.

Thats what I want my truck for, brute power. It will probably never see use on a highway, its just transportation for me in the winter and to be used for hauling parts.

At one of the places I used to work at we had a customer who had a '77 3/4 ton PW with a Slant and automatic. They used it to pull loaded farm wagons out of the field and to the grain elevator. They were very happy with it.
