Fuel Injection On a 360
Any fuel injection from a late model engine that will fit on a 360? Fabrication isn't a problem but money is, which is why i'm not going with an aftermarket setup.

depends on whether you have an old la or a magnum. magnum era injection intakeswon't fit the old heads right. Is there a tbi unit floating around? those just bolt onto your existing manifold. You still need to get the computer that controls it.
Why do you want FI anyway? It won't make you go any faster, and tuning may be a bitch, since you won't have a "fuel map" to match your engine. Of course, if you pick one up from a junkyard cheap, and it works, WOW! |

360 injection
This is an aftermarket set up that was put on my 79 lil-red truck.
I'm going back to a 850 TQ competition series- In process of restoration-10.0 flat tops with a hemi-grind cam, a little bigger stall 3200 instead of the stock 2400. a new set of 3:55 from randy's and strange axles,in a 69 1/2 ton drop out rear axle. (I have replaced the stock rear axle 3 times,,,,no more). |

EFI may not be faster than a perfectly tuned 4bbl but it gives you much better throttle responce and also fuel economy. Where a carb usually has 3 circuits; idle, primary and secondary, a tuneable EFI setup has an infinate amount. I am still in the process of fine tuning my motor but it has already impressed many people. Also I started with a 360/380 crate motor engine so EFI was a little easier as far as the intake plumbing.

I need to update my web site to include the specs but here goes.
360/380 motor stock internals except for Crane Gold rocker arms. EFI- SpeedPro (now F.A.S.T.) Wide Band Bank to Bank ecu MP 36 lbs injectors SpeedPro fuel rails Weldon Street fuel pump/regulator MP throttle body GM sensors 1/2" fuel line/3/8" return line and lots of fuel fittings I did all the machine work myself. The intake had bosses for the injectors that needed to be drilled and also the fuel rails needed holes to match. There are less expensive ecu's on the market but the SP/FAST is very adjustable and works with turbo's/chargers and multi stage nitrous. Links to EFI sites. http://force-efi.com/ http://www.fuelairspark.com/ http://www.fuelinjection.com/ http://www.howell-efi.com/ http://www.jenveydynamics.com/ http://www.kinsler.com/ http://www.kenlowe.com.au/LFS1.htm http://www.rancefi.com/ http://www.speartech.com/ http://www.haltech.com/ http://www.electromotive-inc.com/ Some of these ecu's are meant for specific HP outputs (300-400) like the Holley and Excel ones you see in Jegs and Summit. They should work good on most motors but are not cheap to upgrade if you deside to change the motor drastically (SB to BB). I will post some pic's later tonight. |
